Casey Brefka: Straight Answers. Thoughtful Guidance. Someone You Can Count On.
I’m a Middle Tennessee REALTOR®, mobile notary, professional musician, and lifelong problem-solver.
Whether I’m coordinating a real estate transaction, helping someone complete an important notarization, or leading eighteen musicians through a performance, my approach is the same: prepare carefully, communicate clearly, and take seriously the trust people place in me.

the story behind the name
Why “Just Ask Casey”?
Long before I worked in real estate, people were already coming to me with questions.
I started playing trumpet at seven, years before most students entered my school’s music program. Helping the musicians around me came naturally, and it was the first time I realized how much I enjoyed taking something complicated and making it easier for someone else to understand.
That instinct followed me into teaching at the college level, leading professional bands, and serving as a Level 3 Magic: The Gathering tournament judge. Tournament judging meant understanding a rulebook more than 300 pages long, explaining difficult rulings clearly, and resolving disputes between players in high-pressure situations.
The subjects changed, but my role rarely did. I became the person friends, students, musicians, colleagues, and eventually clients could approach when they needed a clear explanation, a practical solution, or someone willing to take their question seriously.
When it came time to build a business around the way I serve people, the name was already there.
A CAREER BUILT ON TRUST
Different Fields. The Same Essential Skills.
I’ve spent most of my professional life in rooms where preparation matters, communication has to be clear, and other people are counting on me to get the details right.
Music brought me from Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory to Nashville, where I’ve worked as a performer, composer, arranger, educator, and bandleader. I founded and lead the eighteen-piece Music City Big Band, serve on the Executive Board of Nashville’s AFM Local 257, and have performed on projects ranging from intimate traditional jazz shows to productions with Postmodern Jukebox.
Those experiences taught me how to manage complicated moving parts, meet firm deadlines, anticipate problems, and remain steady when the pressure rises. More importantly, they taught me that expertise is only useful when you can communicate it clearly and use it in service of someone else.
Real estate and notary work may look different from leading a band, but the essential skills are remarkably similar: prepare thoroughly, listen carefully, explain what comes next, and make sure everyone can move forward with confidence.

HOW I WORK
Prepared, Candid, and Fully in Your Corner.
I don’t believe good service means telling people whatever they want to hear. It means listening carefully, explaining the situation honestly, and helping them make a decision they can feel confident about.
When I work with a client, I want them to understand what is happening—not simply be told where to sign. I’ll answer the extra question, translate unfamiliar language, identify the practical next step, and tell you candidly when I think something deserves a closer look.
Buying or selling a home rarely happens in a vacuum. There are finances, deadlines, family considerations, competing priorities, and plenty of emotions involved. My job is to remain organized and levelheaded while protecting your interests and keeping the process moving.
As a Middle Tennessee REALTOR® with Benchmark Realty and a member of The Moon Group, I have the support and resources of an experienced real estate team while still providing the direct, personal service behind the Just Ask Casey name.
what i believe
Good Guidance Should Make Things Clearer
Whether the question involves a home, an important document, or a difficult decision, a few principles guide the way I work.
Clarity is Kindness
People make better decisions when they understand what they’re choosing. Good guidance should remove confusion, not add to it.
Preparation Builds Confidence
The work done before an important moment often determines how smoothly that moment goes. I would rather anticipate a problem than explain one after the fact.
Candor Earns Trust
You deserve an honest assessment, even when the answer is complicated or not necessarily the one you hoped to hear.
People Come Before Transactions
Every decision affects a real person, family, or future. The paperwork matters, but the people depending on it matter more.
